Trying new street food…one of the great joys of living in China. I just wish I knew what it is I’m actually eating. Do you do this…try things even though you have no idea what it is? And if you do, what tricks do you have for ordering, finding the best things, etc.? I’d really love to know. We’ve tried the”give us your specialty thing”…not always with the most pleasant results. What works for you?
Not with ‘Street Food’ but when I’ve gone to a restaurant I know nothing about I sometimes stop by a table of people who are eating and ask them what they think is the best thing they’ve ever ordered in this restaurant. Has worked for me. And I try to be conscience of their eating and only spend a minute bothering them. :o) Kinda hard on Street Food unless you see someone who has ordered already and can tell you what they like about their order. Think that would work? You better learn the language really well before you try that! LOL
Good ideas Mom! We kinda do that. Sometimes, we see something the waitress is taking to someone and ask here what that was, and then order it. We’ve found some of our favorites that way…
